Outcomes Conference 2017: Day One Highlights

The Outcomes Conference 2017: Day One Highlights

The theme of this year’s conference is MOMENTUM and day one of the Outcomes Conference was certainly a momentum-making kind of experience.

Today leaders started the day with early morning devotions, listened to the thought leadership of Trillia Newbell and then went deep into key topics during The Outcomes Conference’s Intensive Training Institute.

Brooke and Boggs lead CLA leaders in a powerful time of worship. Bryan Loritts keynoted the opening session followed grand opening networking event exhibit hall.

Highlights

  • Day 1 at the Outcomes Conference is always a special one, with “momentum” building throughout the day as leaders arrive from all over the nation and world. The morning and afternoon is focused on selective Intensive Training Institutes, all-day deep dive sessions on a particular area of focus. Leaders who choose to attend ITIs arrive early to attend these workshops, while others pour in throughout the afternoon and evening in preparation for our big kickoff Tuesday evening.
  • Trillia Newbell, director of community outreach for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the SBC, started the morning with a pre-ITI general session. She challenged leaders to lean into the divide and discomfort of our culture and to not grow weary in ministry. “Momentum chases out what is comfortable,” she shared, and reminded us to be compelled by God’s love to press on in unity and the work we are called to.
  • After a beautiful time of worship with Brooke and Boggs, pastor Bryan Loritts of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship officially kicked off #Outcomes17 with a powerful call to return to “first things”, specifically the power of prayer. He encouraged leaders to be persistent in prayer and to continue steadfastly, praying at all times and in all times. In an especially challenging moment, he asked “If God answered all your prayers, would THE world change or just YOUR world?” May we never forget that prayer is about encountering God, not getting what we want.
  • And what’s a conference kickoff without a little celebration? Leaders gathered together this evening for cupcakes, coffee and fellowship with other believers. Thank you to all of our exhibitors and partners who serve ministries and leaders; be sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall this week to check them all out!

We are so excited to see what God has in store for the next few days! Follow along and share what you’re learning on social media using the hashtag #Outcomes17! It is incredible to see leaders near and far learning, sharing and encouraging each other.
